An eventful Religious Studies Theatre Visit

Just before half term the Upper V GCSE students visited the theatre to see Bend It Like Beckham.  Maddie Tipping, Upper VA, reports on the visit:

‘On Thursday 22nd October twenty girls from Upper V travelled to Leicester Square to see Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical at the Phoenix Theatre. After arriving in Leicester Square for a bite to eat, we found that it was the evening of the premiere of Ed Sheeran’s film ‘Jumpers for Goalposts’ and the Square was crowded.  We walked to the theatre and settled to watch the musical.

The musical was brilliant, celebrating the cultural diversity of modern day London. It also supports Unit 4 in our Religious Education GCSE, Christianity, which particularly focuses on Community Cohesion.

Everyone was thrilled with the performance. The cast gave it 100%, which was really reflected in the audience’s energy.

As a year, we would like to give a massive thanks to Mrs McDermott for organizing such a wonderful trip, and Miss O’Brien for accompanying us. I can speak for everyone when I say that it really was the best trip ever!’
