A wonderful few weeks.

The P.E. Department has had a tremendous few weeks in the Ealing Cross Country and English Schools Cross Country competitions.  Mrs Gosling, Director of P.E., reports,

‘In the recent ESSA Cross Country (English Schools’ Athletic Association) competition we came overall 7th out of 17 teams in the Junior Girls.  Our top three runners were Margault (9th), Marie-Helene (18th) and Bella (21st) out of a total of 77 runners.  In the inter-girls competition we came 4th out of 14 and out top three runners were Isobel M (14th), Evie W (16th) and Stella M (18th), out of a total of 63 runners.  These were really encouraging results ahead of the Ealing School’s Cross Country High School competition on 7th October where we achieved wonderful results and came joint 1st  in the Year 7/8 girls’ competition. The final standings were:

On Friday we are also taking part in the School London Mini Marathon where we are encouraging girls to run/walk 2.6miles. You will see the girls from running club and in PE lessons doing this.

We also had some great performances from our Netball academy, winning their first round of the Sisters in Sport Cup on Monday 11th October, 42-25.  The  next round is against Surbiton High on 3rd November. The girls also finished 4th in the U19 competition of the Middlesex Netball rounds, narrowly missing out on qualification. They are now looking ahead to the National School Competition in March.

As you know, we also hosted the Hi-5 netball tournament last week. Despite Covid disruptions we have enjoyed seeing many girls play in sports fixtures, giving all the opportunity to compete. Our netball tours to Paris have also been launched!’

It is wonderful to see that sport is really taking off again after all the recent restrictions and all of our pupils embracing the opportunities that are on offer.
