St Augustine's Poetry Parade
|
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Year 5 and Year 6 students from across the borough, alongside our own students, to perform at our vibrant Poetry Parade on Tuesday 28th April. The event brought together young linguists for a truly memorable showcase of talent, enthusiasm, and imagination. Participants performed poems in both French and Spanish, demonstrating impressive confidence and flair to parents and staff. Their performances were full of energy and expression, with students using song, rhythm, and even carefully chosen props to bring their poetry to life. It was wonderful to see languages being celebrated in such a dynamic and engaging way. Alongside the performances, guests enjoyed a selection of delicious food inspired by French and Spanish cuisine, adding an extra cultural flavour to the day. Visitors also had the opportunity to explore the school farm, the Priory Farm, where they met some of our friendly animals, including goats and sheep, which proved to be a popular highlight for children and adults alike. A huge congratulations goes to those students who received special recognition awards, including Anne in Year 5 and Ada in Year 6, for their particularly enthusiastic, creative, and inspired performances. Your confidence, commitment, and passion for languages were fantastic to see and set a brilliant example for others. Finally, special thanks must go to Ms de Lahitte and the Modern Languages team for organising such a thoughtful and engaging event. Their hard work and dedication created a rich and memorable experience that celebrated not only language learning, but also confidence, culture, and community spirit. |
