Senior Curriculum
What does it take to thrive in a complex, fast-changing world? At St Augustine’s Priory, we believe it starts with an education that inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and challenges every student to achieve their personal best.
Our Senior curriculum is designed not just to deliver outstanding academic results, but to shape young women who are intellectually curious, emotionally resilient, and prepared for whatever the future holds.
In Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9), girls benefit from a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum. Core subjects are taught by subject specialists from the start, with separate lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics from Year 7. Pupils also choose two modern foreign languages from French, Spanish and Russian, developing confidence in communication and cultural understanding early on.
Our curriculum is carefully structured to keep opportunities open. Girls are assessed regularly through topic tests, coursework and formal assessments, building familiarity with exam formats while nurturing individual progress. Study skills are embedded across all subjects, fostering self-reliance and academic resilience.
At Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11), students personalise their learning, selecting four options to study alongside five core GCSE subjects. A wide range of choices including Classics, Music, Computer Science, and Drama means every pupil can follow a path suited to their strengths and aspirations. Our students consistently achieve exceptional GCSE and A Level results, but just as importantly, they enjoy the process of learning.
Curriculum enrichment plays a central role in Senior School life. Girls contribute to our student-led publication Veritas Times, take part in subject societies, academic clubs, and collaborative research projects and interactive opportunities with schools and universities. They also have the opportunity to complete the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) or Higher Project Qualification (HPQ), building advanced research and presentation skills highly valued by universities.
Parents are invited to regular curriculum and pastoral evenings to discuss progress, hear from staff, and engage in our thriving school community; an important part of the St Augustine’s ethos of partnership and participation.
Our Senior curriculum is not only about academic achievement; it’s about preparing students for the world beyond school. We aim to shape thoughtful, articulate and future-ready young women, grounded in values and capable of leading with empathy, insight and courage.
Our pupils don’t succeed through intense pressure - they succeed because they are inspired, confident, and genuinely love learning. They are unafraid to take risks, eager to explore, and motivated to achieve their very best.
