Seniors Win UCL Ocean Health Challenge 2025
UCL Ocean Health Challenge 2025 – St Augustine's Priory Winners Announced!
Congratulations to Year 11 students Tami and Gabriella for their outstanding achievements in the UCL: The Plastic Waste Challenge 2025. This national competition, which attracted 3,000 students across the UK, invited participants aged 11-18 to tackle ocean plastic by designing innovative, practical solutions. Students chose a source of plastic pollution, proposed an intervention, and developed a working prototype.
Tami won the Key Stage 4 category with her idea for a community thrift shop that collects, cleans, and sells waste materials for art projects which turns everyday trash into creative resources. Gabriella was named runner-up for her stormwater drain filter, designed to capture macroplastics using sustainable bamboo materials. These inspiring projects show how young innovators are leading the way in protecting our oceans and creating sustainable solutions for the future
