British Science Week 2026; Curiosity Brought to Life!

As part of British Science Week 2026, pupils across several year groups embraced this year’s inspiring theme: “Curiosity: what’s your question?” To celebrate, pupils took part in a series of dynamic and imaginative workshops led by AS Creatives, an organisation renowned for transforming learning into something extraordinary.

The workshops encouraged pupils to think like real scientists; collaborating, asking questions, testing ideas, and making discoveries. Through a blend of creativity and scientific thinking, pupils were challenged to explore some of the world’s most impressive scientific and engineering achievements.

One exciting activity involved studying photographs of remarkable structures displayed on screen; engineering feats from across the world. Working in teams, pupils were tasked with recreating the shapes of these buildings using only their own bodies. A highlight was their enthusiastic attempt at forming the iconic silhouette of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, currently the tallest building in the world. Laughter filled the room as groups worked together to match its towering shape, and pupils were fascinated to learn that the Burj Khalifa contains 26,000 windows, each contributing to its dazzling reflection of light.

The creativity didn’t end there. Students also shaped themselves into the form of a bridge before learning about the all-important 'keystone', the central stone that locks an arch together and prevents a bridge from collapsing. This discussion then flowed into fascinating facts about the London Underground, sparking even more curiosity about the engineering marvels people rely on every day.

With interactive challenges, teamwork, and scientific storytelling, the AS Creatives workshops brought the spirit of British Science Week to life proving that science is not just about answers, but about the curiosity that drives us to keep asking fascinating questions.
