Head Girl Hustings
Years 5 -13 students and their teachers gathered enthusiastically in the School Hall on Tuesday 10 March for the Priory’s sixth Hustings for Head Girl, an important moment in the school calendar and a celebration of student leadership.
Five Year 12 students,Evie, Retika, Rayan, Dalia and Otylia, stood as candidates for the role. Each delivered a thoughtful and heartfelt speech outlining their vision for the position, the qualities they would bring to the role, and how they would approach the responsibilities of representing the student body. Their speeches reflected a strong sense of commitment to the school community, with ideas focused on strengthening student voice, supporting younger pupils and continuing to build the inclusive spirit of the Priory.
The event began with a prayer from the current Head Girl, Satoko, who reflected on the importance of service, leadership and community within the school. Following this, each candidate took to the stage to present their ideas, speaking with confidence, poise and impressive maturity to the assembled audience of students and staff.
The position of Head Girl is an important leadership role within the school, and the selection process reflects this responsibility. The successful candidate is chosen through a combination of a school-wide vote, a written application and a formal interview process, ensuring that the final decision considers both the views of the community and the strengths of each applicant.
The hustings provided an excellent opportunity for students across the school to hear directly from the candidates and to consider the qualities that make a strong student leader. The atmosphere in the hall was one of encouragement and respect, with each speech warmly received by the audience.
