Prep II Astronomers

Posted: 24th June 2022

Earth and Space explored.

In the week when five major planets align in a rare planetary conjunction, Prep II this week learned about astronomy, studying Earth and Space.  Mrs Lennox reports:

‘This week we learned that the planets circle the Sun. We found that it takes Neptune 63 times longer than Earth to circle the Sun. We enacted the journey the planets took to circle the Sun…some of us has to work MUCH harder than the others – just as the planets do! We were able to organise ourselves into planet order from the Sun.’

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible with the naked eye from today until Monday.  If you miss it this year, the next time to catch such a conjunction will be in 2040!
