Meeting Members of Staff

Ms P Cattigan…

This term we were happy to welcome Ms Cattigan as Form Teacher for Lower II Alpha during Ms Daya’s maternity leave. Here she tells us about herself:

‘As a parent of a former St Augustine’s Priory pupil, I know first-hand what a unique and special school this is and am delighted to have this opportunity to come back as a member of staff. After a career in Publishing in the STEM sector, most recently at Routledge working on their Architecture and Built Environment list, I took a career break to raise my children. During this time, I volunteered as a Catechist at Ealing Abbey and caught the teaching bug whilst preparing children for their First Holy Communion; a humbling yet inspirational experience.  I studied part-time for my PGCE at St Mary’s University College in Twickenham and gained my first teaching post at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Maida Vale as a Year 5 class teacher.  Following this, I moved closer to home and taught at Montpelier Primary School before moving to St Augustine’s Priory at the beginning of the Summer term.

With one child sitting GCSEs this year and another sitting A Levels, I do not have much free time, but when I do, I head out into the countryside with my husband to go on long country walks with our dog and any of our children who can be persuaded to join us! Other than that, I am a regular theatre goer and a member of a very sociable reading group. I have recently joined a Back to Netball class. I remember being quite proficient when I was at school, though that is sadly no longer the case. However, what I lack in skill, I make up for in enthusiasm!

I am very much enjoying getting to know the girls and love being a part of the warm and vibrant community that is St Augustine’s Priory.’

It is lovely to welcome back Ms Cattigan as a teacher and we know that she will be very happy here.
