Sixth Form Open Evening

Options for the future

After enjoying a day shadowing our Sixth Form, our current Upper V girls and their parents and prospective Sixth Formers from other schools yesterday attended our Sixth Form Open Evening.  Current Sixth Formers were on hand to welcome our guests with our Sixth Form prospectus and handbook which lists all the subjects available to study at A Level at St Augustine’s Priory.  From Art and Design to Sociology, by way of Creative Writing, Mathematics and Physics, the choice of subjects is wide-ranging and caters to all interests.

Our visitors then enjoyed refreshments before going to the Hall which was filled with subject stands and staff who welcomed both our Upper V girls and visitors to converse and advise about the A Level subjects our future Sixth Formers are interested in studying.  Following this everyone gathered in the Chapel to hear talks on life in the Sixth Form at St Augustine’s Priory delivered by staff and pupils.

Running concurrently with our Sixth Form Open Evening was the GCSE information evening where our current Upper IV pupils received their GCSE information booklet and were able to speak to teachers about their GCSE options. Apart from the core subjects of Religious Studies, English (Language and Literature), Mathematics and Science, girls are able to choose their options from subjects as diverse as Astronomy, Classical Greek and Russian.

Ms Gandi, Director of the Sixth Form, said ‘There was a great buzz in the subject fair; this was a very successful evening’ and one of our current parents commented, ‘I am impressed by the individual support given to the girls.’

Choosing subjects to study for GCSE or A Level is always an exciting time and staff here are always on hand to offer advice and guidance to all our pupils.
