Classical Civilisation students visit the British Museum
Maddie Tipping, Lower VA, reports on the recent visit to the British Museum:
‘On Thursday 25th September, the Classical Civilisation students from Lower V visited the British Museum. We had the opportunity to study many fascinating exhibits, including the Parthenon Frieze. We compared this in its workmanship with the frieze from a contemporary temple of Bassai in southern Greece. It was incredible to witness these pieces of art, which are over 2000 years old, because they represent the ideals of those living in Ancient Athens. Overall, it was a thought provoking and enriching trip, and we would like to thank Dr Carleton for organising it!’
