Poetry Rules!

In some great news, a poem by Mr Neil Elder, a member of our English Department, has been shortlisted for the Poetry Prize at the Wells Festival of Literature.  His entry, ‘Boot Cleaning’, is one of twenty-six poems on the shortlist and Mr Elder will be reading it at the Festival’s Poetry Reading on Sunday 12th October at 3.00 p.m. at the Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset.

After the reading of the shortlisted poems the winners will be announced.  Then, on Wednesday 15th October, former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion will present the Poetry Prize.

Mr Elder is one of the strong English Department at St Augustine’s Priory who organises, with great success, creative writing here, including the Tom Warner poetry workshops and the AS Level Creative Writing course.

We would like to offer Mr Elder our congratulations on ‘Boot Cleaning’ being shortlisted at this prestigious festival and wish him every success in the competition.
