Lower VI and the Base Challenge

Posted: 25th March 2021

A national competition.

Mrs MacLennan, Director of Priory 6 here tells us of the work conducted by Lower VI this week:

‘The Lower VI students have been taking part in the BASE Challenge organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).  They have been working in groups of three to four to solve online problems and have put together presentations in response to case studies they have researched.  The girls have really enjoyed the opportunity to pool their skills together to tackle these real-life, industry-based problems.  Good luck to all the entries!

BASE is the ICAEW’s national business and accounting competition for 16-17 year olds across the UK. This is an exciting experience where students take part in team challenges; giving them an understanding of what it’s like to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant whilst developing their key employability skills.’

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
