Mrs Eccleston, Music Department

As Dr Higgins mentions in his article on the Music Taster Day, Mrs Eccleston joins us for this term. We would like to welcome Mrs Eccleston to St Augustine’s Priory and here share some words she has written as introduction,

‘Hello, my name is Mrs Heather Eccleston and I’m the new part-time music teacher working with the Prep and Junior Department for this term. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few weeks at St Augustine’s Priory and am impressed at how friendly, kind and musical the girls are.

When I’m not teaching I work as an accompanist and jazz pianist. My favourite pastime is throwing my walking boots into the boot of the car and heading up north to climb some serious hills with ‘Climb every mountain’ ringing in my ears!! (Yes, the ‘Sound of Music’ is my favourite film of all time!)’

This combination of the love of outdoor exercise and music is a sterling example to us all! I know that Mrs Eccleston will be happy here and wish her well in her work in the Juniors and Preps.

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
