Raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support

From Lower IV Alpha’s Assembly until the end of Little Break, Lower IV Alpha and Priory 6 delivered a tremendous morning of coffee, cakes and awareness raising on Friday 29th September, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support through the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.  Our first visitors were parents who enjoyed a cup of coffee (or tea) ate cake and stayed to catch up with friends.

Our second tranche of Macmillan supporters were the pupils who descended on the Pupils’ Refectory in Little Break and did their best to help by eating all the wonderful contributions people had been very generous in donating.  Bhakti Patel, Upper VI, commented, ‘So many people brought in cakes – pupils, parents and staff’.  The array on offer was wonderful, from cup cakes to sponge cakes, from chocolate cakes to doughnuts – the event was cake heaven!

We are pleased to announce that this successful event raised a tremendous £491.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support.  Thank you to everyone who contributed to the day and supported this very worthwhile cause.

One of our guests was a father who, although feigning reluctance about attending, said ‘we are supporting a good cause and supporting the school community’.  He added, ‘I hope all fathers and male teachers remember that November is Movember – an opportunity to grow a beard or moustache, raise funds and support men’s health.’  Visit https://uk.movember.com/ to find out more.
