Form III away and united!

High Ashurst.

Mrs Gosling reports on a wonderful tradition renewed as she tells us of Form III’s residential visit to High Ashurst!

‘On Monday 20th September Form III embarked on their residential visit to High Ashurst. We often see this as a rite of passage for pupils who join Form III as it is a fantastic way to get to know all the girls in the year group as well as Form Teachers.

As many pupils missed their residential as part of juniors, the excitement levels were extremely high and as we left on coach there were screams of excitement and delight.

In the afternoon students embarked on group activities which tested them both individually and as a group. Jumping off a platform to reach a trapeze, shooting a bullseye in archery and working together to start a fire or to solve problems, the challenge course was embraced fully by all students. There were so many smiles and students getting stuck in and trying their best in everything they did.

A busy day was followed by an action packed evening where the girls participated in a drum workshop by Mr Chappory, which was fantastic and developed the pupils’ listening and non-verbal communication. Mrs George then lead everyone in a game of Bingo and then it was time for Hot Chocolate and bed. How much sleep happened we will never know, but it didn’t stop everyone throwing themselves into the morning activities. Dr Carleton and Mrs Gosling showed their groups how it was done by climbing up on to the platform and both jumping and catching the trapeze!

Many girls demonstrated the qualities which we expect and hope to develop at St Augustine’s Priory and we are so pleased so have been able to take the students away this year. As a year group they are more united than when we left and have many a story to tell’.
