Celebration of Confirmation

Posted: 30th June 2022

Feast Day of Sts Peter and Paul   .

Following on from our celebration last week of those who had made their First Holy Communion, this week we celebrated not only the Feast of Sts Peter and Paul but those in Upper IV and Lower V who had recently received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Fr Thomas celebrated a wonderful Mass for pupils, staff and parents which began with the Confirmation candidates processing into the Chapel bearing pictures of the saints whom they had chosen as their patrons.

The girls had prepared the Mass extremely well and all read beautifully.  In their introduction, Niamh read,

‘Welcome to this Mass for the Feasts of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, two of the most prominent figures in the Church. St Peter was an apostle of Jesus, the ‘rock’, or foundation on which the early church was formed. St Paul was a great missionary and converted many Gentiles to Christianity.

During this Mass we are also celebrating those students who have made their Confirmation in their parishes recently. This is an important sacrament for us, as it completes the three sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church. During our Confirmations we were sealed with the Holy Spirit and received the gifts of the Holy Spirit to help us to live our lives as Christians.’

Many congratulations to Niamh, Stella, Asia, Eve, Hannah, Claudia, Lucy, Isobel and Olivia on their Confirmation!
