A privileged time.
We are privileged at St Augustine’s Priory to have our own Chapel where we regularly celebrate Mass and hold retreats. It is definitely the centre of life in our school. On the morning of 23rd May, Lower V took part in another sacred event when they gathered in the Chapel where, Mrs McDermott, the Head of Faith Life, led them in the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Mrs McDermott explains, ‘As part of the GCSE R.S. specification, students study how belief in the ‘real presence’ influences Eucharistic adoration’.
Mrs McDermott brought her class to the Chapel so they could take part in a short time of Adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. This allowed them to see our beautiful monstrance and understand the significance of the tabernacle and sanctuary lamp. It was a beautiful time of stillness and quiet that the students took part in with reverence and respect.
