A Week One Summer

The autobiography of Floyd Steadman.

You may have seen in the media that one of our Governors, Mr Floyd Steadman, published his autobiography in October, ‘A Week One Summer’.  This is the story of a life lived with perseverance and integrity.  From a childhood filled with adversity, Mr Steadman strove to be the best he could be.  Captain of Saracens, husband and father, inspiring teacher and latterly, headmaster, Mr Steadman’s life, as Mark Evans in his foreword writes, ‘is fascinating on a personal and societal level.  Floyd has always been proud of his heritage and fought hard to achieve at a time when racism in the UK was far more overt than it is today.  He never backed down, refused to accept that he would ever be anything less than a success and continues to strive for more progress and diversity; all this at the same time as being incredibly popular and loved by those of us fortunate enough to know him well.’

Available to buy at £11.99, we would recommend Mr Steadman’s book as an inspiring and fascinating read.

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
