Songs and Certificates

Posted: 25th June 2021

Lower I, Upper I and Lower II celebrate.

The season of Songs and Certificates is upon us!  On Monday 14th June we saw Lower II perform with the theme of ‘Birds and Flight’.  Mrs Round says that, ‘the girls ‘flew’ into the Chapel to the sound of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’ and followed this up with their self-penned ‘Feeling Good’ poem. Other poetry performances included ‘The Hurt Boy and the Birds’ by John Agard, and some Sonnets  by William Shakespeare. Songs included ‘Blackbird’ by Lennon-McCartney, ‘Fly me to the Moon’ and ‘Touch the Sky’ – the song from the film Brave.’  This was a lovely afternoon and was enjoyed by us all.

Following this, on Monday 21st June Lower I and Upper I held their Songs and Certificates.  Their theme was ‘Summer’ and it is reported that ‘the girls’ renditions of songs and poetry were simply riveting. Indeed, the girls knew all too well about rain and barbecues during British Summertime!  There were some wonderful dance moves, a song about flying kites and, of course the singing of, ‘Oh Happy Day’!’

Thank you to all the Lower I, Upper I and Lower II A and Lower II Alpha girls and teachers for their wonderful productions.  Also, thank you to Mr Martin and Mr Wood of our IT Department who enabled these two Songs and Certificates to be live-streamed to parents.

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
