The Christ who accompanies

Posted: 8th December 2020

A poem for Christmas.

Trees and lights adorn St Augustine’s Priory as we journey through Advent.  From trees in the grounds to wreaths in Reception, the school is getting ready to celebrate the Christmas season.

But amidst all the decorations and the joy, the following poem by Malcolm Guite from ‘Sounding the Seasons: Seventy Sonnets for the Christian Year’, brings us another side to Christmas, the coming of the Christ who accompanies.  The Christ who is born into a world teeming with the plight of refugees, of the power held by the few and the judgement which awaits us all.  It speaks of the power of the Christ who accompanies us all.
