Cultural Dress Up Day

Posted: 20th November 2020

A day of nations.

Friday 20th November saw our Cultural Dress Up Day, a day when pupils (and staff) were invited to wear traditional clothes of the culture they identified with, or to wear clothes in the colours of that country’s flag.

The variety of costumes on show was a thing of beauty, with Wales, Ireland, Canada and France to be seen side by side with South Africa, Japan, Poland and India and a host of others.  It seemed that the whole world was on show at St Augustine’s Priory!

The aim of the day was to raise funds to sponsor a boy being educated in Argentina.  Nicolás is an 11 year-old boy from a deprived area in the North of Argentina. Without the daily support from Fundación Anpuy, he would be at risk of dropping out of education.  The Modern Languages Department at St Augustine’s Priory started sponsoring Nico in 2018 and have seen him through Year 3 and Year 4. For the last two years, they have been raising money through different fundraising events – and they are determined to keep on doing so!  This year the MFL Department are hoping to raise £350 to continue sponsoring Nico’s education this school year.  Donations can be made via:
