Chiswick Book Festival Young People’s Poetry Competition.
Congratulations to Tisha Maroo, Ivy Lo and Caitlin Gallagher Rattan, all in Lower IV, who are all award winners in this year’s Chiswick Book Festival Young People’s Poetry Competition! St Augustine’s Priory has a long history of prizewinning poets at this festival and this year has proved to be no exception. Our poets always demonstrate imagination, verve and a love of language and our pupils’ consistency in entering and being prizewinners in this competition showcases their hard work and literary talent.
The 2020 awards ceremony will take place on Friday 11th September and, like the rest of the Chiswick Book Festival, is taking place entirely online this year. The ceremony will be pre-recorded and the video freely available to watch from 5.00 – 6.00 pm on Friday 11th September. It will also be available to watch after this time. The link is at: http://www.chiswickbookfestival.net/programme/speakers-2020/childrens-festival-2020 which also lists full details of the Children’s Festival 2020.
Vicky Ireland, Chair of Action for Children’s Arts, will announce the prizewinners and the level of prize they have won. The competition judges will also speak, including Pitzhanger Poet James Priestman.
All the prizewinning poems will be available to read on the festival’s website from October.
The Chiswick Book Festival runs from 10th – 16th September and to read about the festival programme, please go to: www.chiswickbookfestival.net
We look forward to reading Tisha, Ivy and Caitlin’s poems and hope that they enjoy the awards ceremony!
