Celebrating Chinese New Year

The Nursery and the Year of the Rat

Tomorrow sees the beginning of the Year of the Rat, the Chinese New Year.  The Nursery enjoyed their celebrations by making a dragon and participated in a dragon dance with cymbals in the Playground.  A Chinese restaurant had pride of place in their home corner and they learnt to write numbers in Chinese and also made Chinese lanterns and wrote and attached their wishes to a tree.

The Nursery were also delighted to welcome a parent who talked to the Nursery and Prep III on how her family celebrated Chinese New Year and then gave the children envelopes containing chocolate money to take home with them.

All in all, a great way to celebrate Chinese New Year!
