Charities Week

Posted: 23rd November 2017

27th November – 1st December 2017

We are all looking forward to Charities Week which, although usually held in the Lent Term, this academic year has been brought forward to next week!  Activities aplenty will take place including talent shows, cake sales, an eco-fashion show, dodgeball tournament, a bring and buy sale and the ever-popular game of Assassins which all contribute to a week of events and excitement!  There will also be a Silver Trail where, throughout the week, pupils in the Juniors will be collecting silver coins. The coins will be laid in a line on the netball court. How far will each year group’s line go?

One of the highlights of the week is the Junior and Senior Bake Off, taking place on Monday 27th November.  With the theme of ‘Game Changing’ the girls’ culinary creations will be judged in the Pupils’ Refectory at Little Break, with the cakes being available to purchase afterwards!

It is a week filled with great energy and enthusiasm from everyone involved, one of the highlights of the school year.  Charities Week is not, however, a week aimed solely at providing entertainment.  The serious point behind Charities Week is that the four school Houses raise money for their chosen charities.

There will also be themed days.  On Thursday 30th November members of the different Houses will wear clothes themed with their chosen charities:

St Gabriel: Rainbow Day (raising money for the children’s charity, the Rainbow Trust),

St George: International Dress wear (raising money for Refugee Action),

St Michael: Animal Day (raising money for the RSPCA),

St Raphael: Green Day (raising money for Heads Together).

On Friday 1st December there will be a whole school own clothes day and the theme will be ‘Glitter and all things sparkly!’  But, please note:  If students fail to wear their appropriate house theme, they will have to pay an additional fee, and will be letting their house down!

The Nursery, Prep & Junior students may purchase a Multi event pass for £5 which will give them access to / payment for:

  • Talent show entry fee
  • Dodgeball entry fee
  • 2 x Non Uniform days
  • Disco
  • Biscuit decorating.

Other costs will need to be accounted for on a day to day basis.

Senior students may also purchase a Multi-event pass for £5 which will give them access to / payment for:

  • Talent show entry fee
  • Dodgeball entry fee
  • 2x Non Uniform Days
  • Assassins
  • Dodgeball tournament

Other costs will need to be accounted for on a day to day basis.
