Careers Speaker: Dr Jacqui Ince

Posted: 6th October 2017

Portia Laryea-Adu  of Lower VI writes about last week’s visit from Dr Jacqui Ince.

“On Thursday 28th September, Upper V and Priory 6 had the honour of meeting Jacqui Ince, a consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Medicine and Educator at the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr Ince informed us through her wonderful presentation about her journey to becoming a doctor. At a very young age, both of Dr Ince’s parents fell ill. She therefore spent a lot of time in hospital, watching doctors who tried to help and cure people every day, and who inspired her to follow in their footsteps.

Dr Ince educated us about the current demand for doctors and encouraged many who showed interest in medicine to continue to work hard to achieve their dreams. She also encouraged those who aren’t sure about what career they would like to go into to also continue to work hard at whatever they enjoy at the moment, because having a qualification in any range of subjects shows employers that you are able to work to a high standard. The talk was very informative and I believe everyone is looking forward to a visit from the next Careers Speaker, Mr Darren Size, Managing Director of Sizebreed Group, who is coming here to speak on Thursday 12th October”.
