European Day of Languages

Posted: 28th September 2017

 ‘Round the corners of the world I turn,
More and more about the world I learn.
All the new things that I see
You’ll be looking at along with me’,
Hymn.

Upper IV Alpha’s assembly on Monday 25th September taught us all about the origins of different languages, about pioneers of language such as Miguel de Cervantes, Dante Alighieri and William Shakespeare, and the Senior School even recited the Our Father in Spanish!

Upper IV Alpha also announced this year’s European Day of Languages competition! The challenge is to design a postcard which can be sent home when a student does well in Modern Languages.

Here are the details:

Size: 6 by 4 inches, your design can only be one sided

Hand-drawn and computer created postcards are both welcome

Logos/Crests can be found on the VLE (Modern Languages home page)

The best designs will get prizes and their postcards will be mass printed

Deadline: Monday 2nd October

Good luck!!

Last year’s competition winners

En el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo. Amen

Padre nuestro,

que estás en el cielo,

santificado sea tu Nombre;

venga a nosotros tu reino;

hágase tu voluntad

en la tierra como en el cielo

Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día;

perdona nuestras ofensas,

Como también nosotros perdonamos

a los que nos ofenden;

no nos dejes caer en la tentación,

y líbranos del mal. Amen
