Millie Vadon’s accomplishment for charity
We are thrilled to announce that Millie Vadon, Lower IV Alpha, has started the new year with an incredible achievement. On Saturday 9th September she completed an outdoor lake swim of 2.5km to raise money for Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie and The Swimathon Foundation because, ‘I want to raise money to remember Bridie Healey’.
Millie goes on to say, ‘Last August I lost my friend and nanny, Bridie Healey, to cancer. She had looked after me and my brothers with love and care for all of our lives.
I want to raise money to help defeat this terrible disease so I’ve decided to do a 2.5 km sponsored open water swim for Cancer Research and Marie Curie.
I love swimming but the longest distance I usually swim non-stop is only 200m. I also hate cold water so 2.5km in a lake is no easy task. I’ve been training hard and want to raise as much money as possible for these great charities.
I would be so pleased if you could sponsor me.’
If you would like to sponsor Millie, she has a justgiving page which can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/millievadon . She has so far raised the fantastic sum of £1,135.
Mrs Gosling, Head of PE, commented, ‘What an amazing achievement!’
Millie’s father, Mr Vadon, said, ‘Millie did really well and we are very proud of her. It was so cold that it took five hours until Millie’s hands warmed up again!’
