‘The Witches’

Posted: 11th May 2017

The new school hall has been well and truly broken in by Drama since its completion last week, with Upper II’s performance of Alice in Wonderland and both Upper IVA and Upper IV Alpha’s versions of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’.

Miss Brown and Upper IVA and Alpha recreated Roald Dahl’s chilling tale of ‘The Witches’ for performances to parents, staff and pupils on Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th May.

It is a story about a boy and his Norwegian grandmother who find themselves staying in a hotel at the same time as England’s witches – including their merciless leader, the Grand High Witch.

The Witches look like ordinary ladies, but behind closed doors they are wig-wearing, toeless child-loathers with a plot to exterminate all the children in England.  The boy, his grandma and his friend Bruno must find a way to stop The Witches from lacing every sweet shop in England with Formula Eighty-Six, a Delayed Action Mouse-Maker!
