Stablemates: A Poetry Salon

Posted: 10th March 2017

A Reading with Mona Arshi

Mona Arshi, award-winning poet and Augustinian parent, will be one of the poets reading from their latest collections at Waterstones Bookshop in Piccadilly on Thursday 30th March from 7.00 – 8.30pm.  Together with Ruby Robinson and Deryn Rees-Jones, these Pavilion Poetry poets will be taking part in ‘Stablemates:  A Poetry Salon’.

The Waterstones website states, ‘Mona Arshi won the Magma competition in 2012, came second in the Troubadour International Competition in 2013 and was joint winner of the Manchester Creative Writing Competition in 2014. Her debut collection, Small Hands, was published in 2015 and won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. The poet George Szirtes commented, It is unusual to find a first book as beautiful as this.’

‘Pavilion Poetry was launched in 2015 by Liverpool University Press. It seeks to publish the very best in contemporary poetry. Always international in its reach, it is poetry that takes a risk. Whether by new or established and award-winning writers, this is poetry sure to challenge and delight.’

Tickets cost £8 in advance available online or £10 on the door.

This promises to be a most worthwhile evening, exploring the world of contemporary poetry. Further details may be found at:

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
