A Stitch in Time
We were delighted when the Summer edition of The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) magazine featured our ‘A Stitch in Time’ project, the project for the upholstering of our Chapel kneelers which our Head of Art, Miss Eng, has led and organised from its inception.
Pupils take part in the embroidering of the kneelers during lunchtimes and past pupils have also been heavily involved.
The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) ‘funds the education of talented craftspeople through traditional college courses, apprenticeships or one-one-one training with Masters. QEST was established to help support craftspeople of all ages and from all backgrounds, at a critical stage in their careers and thus sustain traditional British craftsmanship.’ (QEST website).
We are fortunate that one of its very talented scholars was Miss Eng, our Head of Art, and she comments on the coverage in the QEST Magazine:
“I’m so pleased that ‘A Stitch in Time’ was featured in QEST as it is an organisation at the forefront of supporting education and excellence in craft in the UK. QEST funds scholarships to sustain British craftsmanship, ranging from furniture making to stained class conservation, and it’s fantastic for the project to have coverage amongst such a diverse range of disciplines.”
