Support our Sixth Form Theatre Company in Walpole Park!

Rebecca Shoesmith, Lower VI, one of the members of Priory Players, the Sixth Form theatre company, tells us about their upcoming production in Ealing on Saturday 25th June.  As there is a fair on Ealing Green over this weekend, this will be the perfect opportunity to see our Priory Players perform just two minutes’ walk away in Walpole Park!

‘This Saturday, 25th June from 11.00am, the Priory Players will be performing our Playlet in the Park, in Walpole Park in Ealing.  Two further performances will be at 12.00noon and 12.30pm.

This comedic creation is a short, fun sketch set in a sweet shop, devised and performed by four Sixth Formers, Claudia Bergin, Sophie Routledge, Amy-Elizabeth Roye and me, Rebecca Shoesmith.

Our company director, Ms Brown, set us the remit of producing a simple, fifteen minute minimalist character-driven physical comedy to entertain young children aged 3-10 years in a park setting.

The rehearsal process involved creating characters using animal traits to inform our physicalities and personalities, using props to develop turning points in the story, experimenting with pantomime conventions and using music to manipulate pace and to complement the action. We also wanted to reach the parental audience who might attend by drawing on well-known film signature tunes.

We were responsible for the entire production, including scheduling, promotion, costume, music, and application to Ealing Council for permission to perform in one of their open spaces.  The huge effort involved in staging just a short play for public performance has been eye-opening for all of us. “We have learned such as lot from owning the responsibility. I think this unique experience will be of enormous value as part of my university application,’ said Amy-Elizabeth Roye

We are really looking forward to performing and just hope the weather is kind to us!

We look forward to seeing some St Augustine’s support in Walpole Park on Saturday.  We’ll be near the Rickyard Cafe in silly costumes!’

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
