Mr M Kane, Head of Science
A new Head of Science will be joining us in September, Mr Michael Kane, who here introduces himself to us:
‘I am very much looking forward to working at St Augustine’s Priory as it is a small Catholic school which has a friendly and caring community. Having attended the London Oratory School as a boy I am familiar with its Catholic ethos and uphold these values. I also want to come to a school which has high academic success. I’m very competitive and really want to build on this, to achieve exemplary outcomes for pupils in Science, regardless of their abilities.
In my current post, I am Second in The Science Department in charge of GCSE Science and also Head of Physics. I’ve been a teacher for over 12 years and have taught in mostly outstanding schools and have a proven track record of achieving outstanding results.
I have also been a re-elected school governor at Lady Margaret School for the past six years.
I attended King’s College London and have a degree in Physics. I’m currently studying a part-time Masters degree in Physics and Medical Engineering at UCL.
As crazy as it might sound I love coming to work and teaching Physics and sharing my enthusiasm of Science!
Outside of school I have recently taken up swing dancing, only to discover I have two left feet, but I’m sure over time I’ll be competing on Strictly Come Dancing!
P.S. Giraffes are my favourite animal, in fact I’ve adopted one called Elish at London Zoo.’
We look forward to welcoming Mr Kane to the Science Department St Augustine’s Priory in September and know that he will enjoy working here.
