Mr N Harnett, Teacher of Maths

September 2016 sees the arrival of Mr Nick Harnett, Teacher of Maths, to St Augustine’s Priory.  We are looking forward to welcoming him and here produce an article he has written, introducing himself to us.

‘I am originally from Enfield, North London which is where I completed my secondary school education. Following this I gained a place at the University of Bath where I studied for a Master of Chemistry Honours degree.

I have always had an interest in health and fitness. Whilst at school I was able to represent Enfield and Middlesex in national swimming competitions. I continued to swim during my time in Bath and also represented the university. In addition to my training I coached the university swim team, where I realised that I had a passion for teaching and subsequently completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Mathematics.

My teaching career began as a Teacher of Mathematics at Southgate School which has reinforced my dedication to teaching mathematics. I have enjoyed supporting students in the build up to their GCSEs and preparing them for the future.

I am extremely excited to be joining the Mathematics Department at St Augustine’s Priory and I look forward to building positive relationships with pupils and staff.’

It is great to be welcoming such an enthusiastic mathematician to St Augustine’s Priory, and I am sure that Mr Harnett will enjoy teaching here.

Strengthening Our Community: The Return of Boys to our Preps and Pre-Preps

We are excited to share that, from September 2026, boys will begin moving up from our Nursery into Reception, marking the gradual reintroduction of boys into our Prep and Pre-Prep School.

This step reflects growing interest from families who value our strong holistic ethos and unique grounds and setting and would like their sons and daughters to share their educational journey together.

At St Augustine’s, our strong sense of community, academic excellence, and deep care for each individual child remain at the heart of everything we do. This is a natural evolution of our school rather than a change to who we are, building on our strengths and allowing us to offer the same joyful, inspiring education to even more children.
