“You can do it”
This was the way in which Dr Rupa Huq MP, Ealing Central and Acton, left an attentive audience of St Augustine’s Priory pupils on Friday 29th April, following an encouraging speech about modern democracy and life as a Member of Parliament.
Dr Huq encouraged our girls not only to ensure they participate fully in the electoral process, but to grasp every opportunity to get involved. Standing next to our very own Pervin Kaur of Upper VI and Youth Mayor of Ealing, Dr Huq highlighted the fact that young women need not wait until they’re adults to begin their contribution to good governance and the improvement of social outcomes.
After Assembly Dr Huq met members of the Upper II Justice and Peace Group who have researched and campaigned on several issues this year. Accompanied by Pervin, Dr Huq then attended our Fairtrade coffee morning where she met parents and staff and engaged in discussions on many topics concerning education and life in Ealing.
Pervin then took Dr Huq on a tour of the school where she expressed great interest in education at St Augustine’s Priory and our exciting building development proposals.
We were pleased to introduce Dr Huq to St Augustine’s Priory and its pupils and hope that we are able to welcome her back again soon.
