Spanish Film Night

Posted: 16th March 2018

An invitation to support education.

In a recent Priory Post article we spoke of how Ms de Lahitte, teacher of Spanish, runs an initiative to support Fundación Anpuy, an organisation which provides educational and social opportunities for children, adolescents and young people from deprived backgrounds.

On Thursday 22nd March at 4.00pm the Modern Languages Department will be hosting a Film Night for Lower IV girls upwards to raise funds for Fundación Anpuy to continue to support Nicolás Aramayo, a 9 year old boy who attends the school, ‘Escuela Nicolás Avellaneda’ in the city of Salta, in the north of Argentina.

This will be the first of two Spanish Film nights; the Juniors can look forward to one next term! We do hope that Seniors will support this initiative by attending the film ‘Ocho apellidos vascos’ (Spanish Affair) on 22nd March and by donating on the day. Soft drinks and snacks will be on sale at the event.

Ocho apellidos vascos is one of the biggest Spanish-made box-office hits of all time! Rafa, a young southerner, travels to the north of Spain seeking to win the heart of Amaia, a Basque girl he as met in Seville. As he tries to pass himself off as Basque, he has to deal with confusing language-based situations.
