A Half Term of Skiing!
From 13 – 19th February St Augustine’s Priory embarked on its latest foray into the mountains. Yes, it was this year’s senior ski trip to Mont Sainte Anne, Canada.
Josephine Heffernan, Lower VA, reports, ‘The 2019 ski was such an amazing and exciting trip for me as I had never been skiing before or visited Canada or even a country outside Europe. To begin with skiing was very tiring but I was eager to learn. At first it was very challenging, and it took long time to get used to wearing the skis, but by the third day our whole group had improved massively and we were up on the mountains. The views were fantastic from the top and we could see Quebec City. There was a large variety of food as everyone was extra hungry after a full day of skiing. The highlight of my week was visiting the Sugar Shack, which is on one of the harder slopes, so was quite tricky to reach but when we arrived we all ate some maple taffy which was delicious. I loved getting to know students in other years and would highly recommend this trip.’
Sophie Fung, Lower IV Alpha, continues, ‘The visit to Canada was an awesome experience! I have skied many times in Europe, but Canada was completely different. We learnt new techniques and had a fantastic time. Furthermore, even though the main activity may have been skiing, we had plenty of time to socialise with other year groups, making new friends and exchanging hilarious stories. The food in the hotel was really good, they catered for my specific dietary requirements and as well as this the food they specially prepared for me tasted fantastic! I would really recommend going on future skiing trips as it is an amazing experience, you have so much fun and you learn so much. Finally, I would like to thank all the staff who took care of us the whole time!’
