CAREERS:  YOUR CHANCE TO CONSIDER

Careers Evening for Upper IV – Upper VI

Choosing a career may seem a daunting prospect.  However, the earlier you begin your exploration, the more exciting it can be.  And we are here to help you with the process.

On Tuesday 4th November from 7.00 p.m. we are holding our annual Careers Evening at St Augustine’s Priory.  This is a golden opportunity for students from Upper IV to Upper VI, together with their parents, to meet leading professionals in their fields, ask advice, ask questions and get a really good taste of a variety of professions.  The evening will also provide skill-building in terms of CV and interview style.

We have a wide variety of professions represented:

  • Law (including a Barrister, a Solicitor and a Crown Prosecutor),
  • Medicine and Veterinary Science (including Pathology),
  • Engineering and Construction (including Quantity Surveying),
  • Business Management (including Executive Search, Consultancy, Entrepreneurship, I.T., Entertainment, H.R. and Media),
  • Creative Industries (including Advertising, Design, Television, Photography, Architecture, Education and Marketing),
  • Finance (including Banking and Accountancy).

Perhaps you have not considered any of the above professions and have your heart set on something completely different for your chosen career.  That is great – but do consider that some of the paths relevant to the pursuit of your chosen career may also be relevant to one or more of the above careers.

So, come to our Careers Evening on 4th November – it is a great occasion for discovery, helping to clarify your thoughts and perhaps to widen your horizons.

We have some superb speakers:  we will begin at 7.00 pm with a talk from Christiane Macedo, the Chief Process Officer at Deutsche Bank who will speak on ‘Women in the Workplace – Creating a Career’.  Ms Macedo will be followed by Cerian Morgan, Global Human Resources Advisor at Deutsche Bank whose talk is entitled, ‘Perfecting your CV and Interview Style’.

At 7.30 p.m. you will be able to explore the individual sectors and meet a wide variety of experts.  You may want to ask about their route to their profession, what are the biggest challenges they face, what is a day in their life like or which qualifications helped to get them where they are now?

Following this, at 8.50 p.m., Hanna Naima McCloskey, the founder of Fearless Futures, will speak on ‘Skills for thriving in the world beyond the classroom’.

Our Careers Evening is an event not to be missed, so please come along and take advantage of all that is on offer!
