CAFOD Harvest Fast Day

On Friday, 3rd October, CAFOD are holding their Harvest Fast Day. This year they are asking us to make a place at our table for families around the world who do not have enough to eat. Here are a few suggestions you may wish to consider as a family this Friday:

  • You may want to donate the price of a meal to CAFOD or
  • Go without a Friday treat and give that money to CAFOD.

The Senior classes may give their money to the class Liturgy Prefect. The Faith Life Prefects of the Preps and Juniors will collect money on Friday in the classrooms from the younger girls. Or, if you prefer, you can donate directly at http://www.cafod.org.uk/Give

Another initiative that CAFOD are promoting this Harvest is the launch of a cookbook called ‘Friday Suppers’. It is written for CAFOD by Pauline Curran, former recipe tester to the UK’s best-selling cookery writer, Delia Smith. The book includes 40 delicious meat-free recipes – perfect for families observing Friday abstinence. If you want to buy a copy please visit http://shop.cafod.org.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/CAFODShop/_CAF2964/479174/Friday-Suppers-by-Pauline-Curran

Generous God,

Thank you for our food.

May we appreciate what we have

and never take it for granted.

We pray for those around the world,

who do not have enough

to provide for their family.

We pray for a good harvest,

for generosity and love,

as we seek a better, fairer world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for the work of CAFOD.
