Beginning the Lent Term

Posted: 12th January 2018

A week of celebration

On Monday the Nursery began the new term by learning about the journey of the Magi to see the baby Jesus, celebrated in the Feast of the Epiphany. Miss Honeyman, Nursery Teacher, describes how the voyage to Bethlehem progressed:

‘Nursery celebrated the feast of the Epiphany by taking the “long journey” to the Chapel (Stable) along the cloisters. The journey was led by the three kings from our Nursery Nativity. When we arrived at the Chapel the three kings gave their gifts to the baby Jesus and we listened to the story of “The Three Wise Men”. We said our Nursery prayer together and listened to the carol “We Three Kings” before returning back to the Nursery.’

In the afternoon we were delighted that Fr Thomas from Ealing Abbey came to celebrate a joyous Mass for staff – a wonderful way to begin the term.

On Wednesday we welcomed Fr Liam from the parish of Our Lady of the Visitation in Greenford who celebrated the Junior Mass.  With parents the Juniors sang and joined in the responses with enthusiasm and Lower I prepared a very moving and inspirational Mass.  The reading was taken from the first book of Samuel, describing how God called Samuel by name – as he calls each one of us.

Fr Liam gave a special introduction to Prep III who joined the Junior Mass for the first time and Mrs Lubowiecka tells us how they prepared for this:

‘During the Lent Term in RE Prep III are learning about the ‘Good News’ that Jesus brings to us and about the Mass.  They were very excited about attending their first school Mass in the school Chapel on 10th January, which was led by Lower I.  They sang beautifully and listened attentively and we were all very proud of them.’
